Molding Powder Metal Parts - Powder metal materials are molded (compacted) under high pressure using large-tonnage presses. Powder metal press size requirement is generally a function of the horizontal cross-sectional area of the part being pressed. Tooling is made to form parts to the net or near-net shape, minimizing the need for secondary machining and virtually eliminating wasted material associated with competing processes.
